Contrast is a local-first cold plunge and sauna recovery app by blue alpine gmbh. No account or sign-in is required. Session history, routines, plans, check-ins, experiments, facilities, tags, and preferences stay on your iPhone by default.
The app stores your profile preferences, session and phase history, routines, plans, check-ins, personal experiments, reminders, tags, facilities, optional Apple Health snapshots you authorize, local AI insights, and settings in the app’s private storage. Profile → Delete all data removes the app’s local content. Uninstalling the app also removes its local container.
With your permission, Contrast can read metrics used for optional recovery comparison: resting heart rate, heart-rate variability, respiratory rate, sleep, workouts, and active energy. You can decline permission or exclude individual metrics. Health data is never used for advertising. Raw HealthKit samples are not sent to the AI provider.
Online analysis happens only after you enable AI, consent, and review the
aggregate preview. When you ask a question, the app may send over HTTPS to our
private proxy at api.bluealpine.xyz:
Excluded from the payload: raw HealthKit samples, exact session dates, notes, tags, facilities, names, email addresses, Apple Account details, and advertising identifiers. The proxy validates a closed schema, rate-limits requests, and does not store or log prompt contents. OpenAI processes the aggregate only to return the requested answer. Unsupported devices, simulators, network failures, and verification failures use a deterministic local fallback instead of a weaker unauthenticated path.
The server stores only the App Attest public key, environment, replay counter, and creation time for registered installs. You can remove the server-side registration with the signed deletion flow and delete local AI insights in the app.
Apple processes subscription purchases. RevenueCat helps determine subscription status and receives purchase receipt information, product identifiers, and an anonymous app user identifier. It does not receive your session journal, Health samples, AI questions, or notes from this app.
The app contains no advertising SDK and no enabled third-party analytics SDK. We do not use your data to track you across other companies’ apps or websites and do not sell personal information.
If allowed, session and plan reminders are local notifications on your device. CSV, JSON, and PDF exports are created only at your request and shared through Apple’s share sheet.
Network requests use HTTPS. Provider API keys stay server-side and are never bundled in the app. We may update this policy as the app or legal requirements change and will revise the effective date here.
